Focus timer and automatic breaks
Attach immediate work to a Pomodoro session and understand the automatic break cycle.

Start a focused session
- 1Open Focus and choose a task if needed. The selector intentionally shows only today's and overdue tasks.
- 2Select Focus, Short break, or Long break. Session lengths and long-break frequency come from Settings.
- 3Start the timer. It continues across normal in-app navigation and reconciles elapsed time after the tab sleeps or reconnects.
- 4Log distractions without abandoning the session, then return to the selected task.
How automatic breaks work
When a focus session completes, FocusPilot selects the correct short or long break and starts that break automatically.
When the break finishes, the timer returns to Focus but stays stopped. The next focus session begins only when you start it. This preserves a smooth recovery rhythm without beginning unattended work sessions.
Session history and task time
Completed sessions appear in today's focus history. Focus minutes also contribute to the attached task's actual time and to Analytics.
Use End session when you need to stop early and record the time already spent; use Reset when you want to discard the current countdown state.
