Trading journal and guardrails

Record trading decisions consistently and use timezone-correct daily limits.

8 minute read Updated September 5, 2026

Configure the journal

  1. 1Create a trading account with its starting balance and currency.
  2. 2Use the seeded instruments or add a custom symbol and asset class.
  3. 3Create reusable setups for the patterns you want to measure.
  4. 4Configure daily loss, trade-count, or other available guardrails.

Record a trade

Trades support direction, entries and exits, position sizing, fees, sessions, notes, screenshots, and multiple legs. FocusPilot derives realized P&L and R-multiple using direction and contract-size-aware calculations.

Import trades from a screenshot

  1. 1Open Trades, choose Import screenshot, select the matching trading account, and upload a clear MT4 or broker history screenshot.
  2. 2FocusPilot extracts every visible closed trade, even when the screenshot includes multiple historical dates or omits its column headings.
  3. 3If needed, change the destination account on the review screen. FocusPilot rechecks duplicate identities for that account without sending the image to AI again.
  4. 4Review the instrument, direction, times, quantity, prices, fees, and broker-reported net P&L for every detected trade.
  5. 5Correct any highlighted or low-confidence fields, deselect rows you do not want, then confirm the import.

FocusPilot never silently saves AI-extracted trades. Images are processed in memory and are not stored, but they are sent to the configured AI provider; crop out account numbers and unrelated personal information. Re-importing the same broker ticket or screenshot row is safely skipped for that workspace and account.

How Today guardrails are calculated

The Guardrails Today view uses the user's configured timezone to determine the local day, then evaluates only that user's workspace-scoped journal activity. Trading time, realized loss, and the consecutive-loss streak reset at the start of each local day. It does not use the server's UTC calendar day or mix records from another workspace.

Review performance

  • Equity curve
  • Win rate and average R
  • Expectancy and profit factor
  • Breakdowns by instrument, setup, and session
  • Daily journal notes and rule adherence

Trading analytics describe your recorded activity and are not investment advice or a promise of future results.
