Use FocusPilot with Claude Code
Connect FocusPilot to Claude Code with one command, so you can turn coding work into tasks and check your plan without leaving the terminal.
4 minute read Updated October 4, 2026
Why connect Claude Code
- Turn TODOs, failing tests or review comments into FocusPilot tasks with due dates.
- Ask what's on your plate before you start, or log what you finished at the end of a session.
- Keep coding work and the rest of your life in one plan.
Add FocusPilot
Run this in your terminal. --scope user makes FocusPilot available in every project; leave it out to add it to the current project only.
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user focuspilot https://focuspilot.online/api/mcpSign in
- 1Start Claude Code with claude and type /mcp.
- 2Select focuspilot, then Authenticate.
- 3Your browser opens FocusPilot. Sign in, choose Read and make changes or Read only, and select Allow.
- 4Back in the terminal, focuspilot shows as connected.
Use a token instead
For scripts, shared machines or CI, use an MCP token (Developers → MCP tokens in FocusPilot) instead of signing in:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user focuspilot https://focuspilot.online/api/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer fpm_YOUR_TOKEN"{
"mcpServers": {
"focuspilot": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://focuspilot.online/api/mcp",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${FOCUSPILOT_TOKEN}" }
}
}
}Never commit a token to a repository. Keep it in an environment variable, as in the .mcp.json example.
Check and use it
Run claude mcp list to confirm the connection. Then just ask, for example: "Create FocusPilot tasks for each TODO in this file, due Friday" or "What's still open in my Work area?" Claude Code asks before running FocusPilot tools until you allow them.
Remove it
Then revoke the connection in FocusPilot under Developers → MCP tokens.
